U-Bolts is also known as U-Clamps, are typically used to support pipework, pipes through which fluids and gasses pass. Another common application is to hold pipes together and also used in many tower applications for structural reinforcement such as securing round pipe used to mount antennas and split pipe for leg reinforcing.
As in picture U-Bolts are measured as
A is the thickness of rod that can be choosen according to the load.
B is the inside diameter between two legs of U-Bolt that is equals to the pipe’s OD on which this can be installed.
C is the height that can be depends on the application.
D is the thread length that can be depends on the application.
U-Bolt comes in a lot of sizes which can be choosen according to the pipe size on which U-Bolt can be installed. And U-Bolts are generally used in 3 types of material and they are MILD STEEL, STAINLESS STEEL, HIGHTENSILE STEEL.
MILD STEEL: Mild Steel U-Bolts are produced of strong, Carbonated Iron. Uncoated steel is vulnerable to corrosion. And in mild steel, U-Bolts are generally used with Electroplated Galvanized coating or Hot Dipped Galvanized coating.
STAINLESS STEEL: Stainless Steel U-Bolts are chemical and corrosion resistant with an appealing finish. They cannot be hardened like carbon steel.
HIGHTENSILE STEEL: Hightensile Steel U-Bolts on hardening methods to produce a stronger, but more brittle, version of steel.
And there are two types of Threads that are generally used and they are INCH & METRIC Threads.
